Hello, I'm Yoshi K!
I'm a Toy & Doll Photographer based in Washington, USA.
I’ve been behind the lens since 2010. For over a decade, I focused on traditional landscapes and nature photography—following a path that looked right on paper, but never truly felt like home. In 2025, I made a choice to stop fitting into a mold that didn't serve me, and turned my camera toward something much more personal.
Toy photography became a way to quietly reclaim a sense of play, safety, and childhood that I didn't get to fully experience growing up.
This work is deeply restorative for me. Through macro lenses, practical effects, and hand-built sets, I build the tiny, intricate universes I once dreamed about—creating quiet spaces to process life, find stillness, and heal. My style sits at the intersection of realism and nostalgia; a reminder that while these figures are plastic, the real-world emotions behind them are deeply human.
My Whimsy
- The Subjects: I primarily shoot art toys, Pop Mart collectibles, Nendoroids, and figures that bring character and story into the frame.
- Hand-Crafted Environments: I build many of my own custom props and backgrounds from scratch.
- Collaborative Detail: I integrate 3D-printed objects modeled by talented artists within the community (you can find these credited under "Kit Credit" on my home page).
- Practical Magic: I prefer using real-world effects to create atmosphere, blurring the line between the miniature and the monumental.
This space is dedicated to self-fulfillment and the simple, profound joy of play. Every shutter click is a gift to my inner child, and I am sincerely grateful to everyone who supports my work and follows my growth on Instagram.
Thank you for stepping into my whimsical world.
